Scientist / Research Scientist

Job Purpose:
As a member of our research analytical team, you will be responsible for providing analytical support to a variety of drug discovery programs, including compound purification (high throughput milligram scale as well as larger scale purification) and characterization (e.g., purity assessment, impurity identification, chiral analysis, measurement of physicochemical properties).  We offer a stimulating, challenging and productive discovery environment with a strong commitment to developing the skills of our people.

The successful candidate will:
• Perform compound purification of scale from mg – multi-grams using a variety of techniques and instruments
• Characterize compounds for purity and impurity ID
• Measure compounds’ physicochemical properties to support lead identification / optimization
• Develop analytical strategies and align resources to meet our programs’ needs
• Communicate with project teams to streamline analytical workflow
• Interpret analytical data in-depth to decision-making within project teams
• Provide expertise in mass spectrometry and applications of MS to high throughput purification
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance the capabilities and efficiency of our department
• Work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment to achieve project goals

Qualifications:
• Ph.D. with 0 - 4 year relevant experience preferred or MS with >7 years pharmaceutical experiences (GXP experience is a plus)
• Well versed in separation sciences and hands on experience in purification / method development
• Strong expertise in Mass Spectrometry and its application on drug molecule analysis
• Solid knowledge of analytical equipment (especially MS and HPLC; trouble-shooting capability is a strong plus)
• Familiar with lab data management informatics and good recordkeeping practice
• Detail oriented and fast paced independent problem solver
• Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills, flexibility and the ability to work well within a team environment
